This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The OST Program Director at the Central Community Branch YMCA oversees the development and operations of the afterschool program, the Alden Summer Program and YMCA Camp Blanchard Summer Program, ensuring the programs meet their intended goals.

Minimal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two years related experience (e.g., supervisor or coordinator of child care programs) preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA 

program specific training.

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Specific Responsibilities

School Year:

1.    Manages the school-age child care program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program; creating and scheduling the activities and events; and maintaining program records or files.

2.    Nurture children by designing lesson plans that include purposeful programming that develops social-emotional skills, fosters achievement, supports academic growth and provides enrichment.

3.    Assures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to program areas; ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.

4.    Responsible for maintaining enrollment to meet budget expectations.

5.    Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Maintains staff schedules and evaluates staff performance.

6.    Models relationship-building skills in all interactions; develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, parents and caregivers, and community organizations (e.g., state child care licensing agency, school administration) to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.

7.    Organizes or participates in Y activities, such as committees, special events, and fundraising.

8.    Performs other duties as assigned.

Summer:

1.    Serve as the Camp Blanchard Director (on site in Sutton, MA); develop and implement a high quality summer camp program.

2.    Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate all staff.

3.    Successfully secure DPH license for Camp Blanchard working with YMCA Facility staff and Camp Caretaker; ensure the highest standards for program safety are constantly maintained.

4.    Responsible for enrollment of all children and communication with families.

Job Type: 

Full-Time Salary Exempt with Benefits to include generous PTO, Free Family Membership, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, & Pet Insurance, and ability to participate in a 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Also, once fully vested the YMCA will pay into an account for you!

Typical Schedule:  Monday – Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm

Pay: $45,000-$47,000
