JOB DESCRIPTION: AUTO CAD TECHNICAIN 

General Summary

This position reports to the Detailing Department Manager

Auto Cad Technicians are responsible for making detailed drawings of all building components and assemblies based on building contract documentation, being consistent with manufacturing requirements.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Produce customer drawings: framing and sheeting plans, shop fabrication drawings (standard and non-standard).
• Creating/editing job specific erection details.
• Edit corrections to marked-up shop fabrication drawings and framing and sheeting plans.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standard details, drawings, instruction manuals.
• Produce miscellaneous detail and drawing related tasks as needed.

Knowledge and Skills Required for Essential Job Functions

• Associate degree or appropriate experience.
• Working knowledge of engineering software (MBS).
• Strong math skills (geometry and trigonometry).
• Experience with Autocad® software.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft® Excel & Word)
• Fluent in the English language.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and calculations.
• Working knowledge of AISC methods used in detailing structural steel.
• Understanding of shop fabrication practices, methods, and knowing limitations of the production department.

Physical Abilities Required

Eyesight, hearing, and hand dexterity sufficient to operate computer monitors, keyboards, mouse, as well as other office equipment such as telephones, calculators, copiers, printers/plotters, etc..
